AUTHOR Interview WITH Beena Khan

NATASHA: Hi Beena! Thank you for the interview. Can you tell our readers about yourself and how long have you been a writer?

BEENA: I began writing in May 2020. It’s been a few months now. I’m twenty-seven years old, and I live in New York City. I write edgy, sometimes sweet literary and contemporary fiction.

NATASHA:  When it comes to writing, do you have a certain routine or writing process that allows the ideas to flow better?

BEENA: I usually have a small outline prepared before I write, and some scenes planned out before I start writing the actual book. A daily routine for me would be, I write from 7 PM – 11 PM. My goal is always 10,000 words. Often, I hit it, if I don’t, I aim for at least 5,000 then.

NATASHA: Can you tell our readers about your latest book? And how did you come up with the title?

BEENA: My upcoming release is called A Beauty So Cruel, a modern-day Beauty and the beast retelling in the mafia world. I’ve always been a fan of fairytales. Beauty and the beast are my most favorite one, and the tale is old as time. I’ve read many retellings but not much in the mafia world. The word beauty in the title represents the female MC.

NATASHA: How do you think being a writer has helped you as a person?

BEENA: I value time more. I work much better on deadlines, and I realized, it’s about chasing your dreams to never give up.

NATASHA:  Are there therapeutic benefits to modeling a character after someone you know?

BEENA: It creates a better bond between characters. In the first book, The Name of Red, the two characters Kabir and Red, I based those on my husband and I, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

NATASHA:  Besides writing, what do you enjoy doing on your spare time to relax?

BEENA: I love drawing and reading! I like to read at least 4-5 books per week. I read other genres besides romance. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy!

NATASHA:  Can you share with our readers any future projects that you are working on?

BEENA: For the Beauty & The Beast series, I have a sequel and two standalones planned. The standalones are based on different characters in the book and they are retellings as well.

NATASHA:  How can our readers learn more about you and your books?

BEENA: All of my books are on Kindle Unlimited and some of them are on sale for $0.99. I’m mainly active on Instagram and Twitter @beenaxkhan
